Moda Charm Packs

The first snow of the season this past week around in our area.   It was just enough to let you know that winter is just around the corner.  A wonderful time to get out some Moda charm packs and start stitching.

The Moda website has free patterns that you can easily download.

Lay out the squares to stagger the colors.

I used 4 Moda charm packs and then dipped into my stash for two more colors for the borders.  This is a fun, cheery, colorful quilt is all ready for the batting and backing.

Using Your Leftovers

The Purl Bee is an endless supply of wonderful ideas and ideas and projects.   They also link to their shop in New York so the option of buying the kits or the supplies directly from them is available.

This hedgehog is a great project for using up some leftover yarn you just don't have the heart to throw away.

Also if you would like to challenge yourself with double pointed needles.

So many times I have tried projects similar like this and ended with nothing but frustration.

This pattern was a pleasant surprise.

When you have a few moments grab a cup of coffee and check out the Purl Bee.

Moving the Stash

Recently I  moved my sewing room out of the basement and into a spare bedroom with loads of natural light.

Moving my fabric was like being reunited with old friends. The pieces pushed to the bottom of the piles or in a bag hanging on hook have been found again.  Another point of view would be,  lady you have way too much fabric.  Obviously that person would not be a quilter because truth be told for any sewer, knitter or lover of handcrafts there is never too much.

Time to get the fingers and the sewing machine into motion!

Charity Knittting

In a world of cell phones, wifi, video games, internet and the constant motion of life around us I find great enjoyment in a simple knitting pattern.  Turning it all off and perhaps plugging in an audio book, making a cup of coffee, then picking up my needles is nothing short of pure enjoyment.

This simple toddler sock is an original pattern of mine.  It is a mindless, simple, fun pattern that requires only the ability to use double pointed needles.  A great size sock to learn how to work with double pointed needles.

After googling charity knitting in my area I chose one to give my sock stash too.

Homemade does not have the designer label or the "in" logo, but comes from a place that cannot be recreated.....the heart.

If you are interested in the pattern send me an email and I will send you the pattern.

Time to pull the boats out of the water and begin getting ready for winter. Now that summer is over and the temps have cooled it is time to start up the oven for some baking, get the knitting needles out and perhaps finish up some of the unfinished quilting projects.

Fall in Provincetown
This is a spectacular time of year in New England. I am going to enjoy sharing some of my good and not so good ideas in this blog.  I hope you stick around.
